Life as a Bubble

Isn’t it wild that those who came before us never could have imagined that we would be able to communicate with one another through a little box that sends messages through time and space?
This technology is without a doubt a blessing to the world because of all that we are able to accomplish with it. However, this blessing does not come without a price.
Social media platforms have made us quite relentless in the statements we make online and how we interact with one another. The age of etiquette and politeness has gone because we no longer know how to speak to each other with kindness and gentleness. The things we would never say to someone’s face we say online, hiding behind a keyboard and screen.
We forget that it’s actual people we are talking to. We aren’t talking to computers. We are not commenting on the appearance of robots. We are talking to people.
But social media has blinded us to that fact and therefore we say harsh, cold things about other people (sometimes about people that we have never met)
Humans floats across the Earth like bubbles. We only exist for a fleeting moment. But the life of a bubble is tremendously dangerous. Not only do they stay afloat for a short period of time. But bubbles are easily popped by external pressures. A simple touch can cause the bubble to lose water and rupture.
It is the same way that a simple word can destroy a person. Whether that word is online or in person makes no difference. A wound is still a wound, and some people never recover.
Social media has it’s perks. But, we should not let it cloud the humanity in us. We must stop our tongue from running wild and saying whatever it wants without consequence. It could mean the end of someone’s bubble.
