My Black Girl Magic

The black woman is the most disrespected person in America. Not only has society placed us on the bottom of the totem pole but they have given us many reasons to hate each other. It is almost like the stage is set for black women to compete against one another except no one is crowned the winner.
Society separates us by body type, clout and money. It all pushes us to fight and be envious of the next black girl. We hate because we can't stop talking about each other. We hate because we can't support each other. We hate because we can't see each other for what each of us really is. A treasure.
The world knows this so it keeps us apart because together we can create a shift so powerful they'll forget we ever came on a slave ship. They'll be forced to remember that when they found us our heads were dressed with jewels and our skin with gold. Black girl magic is a glow that radiates from a black girl not just because of the color of her skin but the awareness of who she is and where she is going.
This is why I urge black girls to keep pushing. We must show them that we will not go out easy. For my white contemporaries, support black girls as we try to gain equal footing on the playing field. We should want to see all of us at the top.
